Education and Lions protection
Since 2023, PEUGEOT has supported Born Free in building beehive fences and predator-proof enclosures within the Meru Conservation Area in Kenya. As Official Education Partner, we also contribute to the delivery of educational workshops for local communities.
We are also pleased to provide Peugeot Landtrek pick-ups to support daily field operations.
Will Travers, OBE, Co-Founder of BORN FREE, stated:
“Global population growth can lead to increased conflict with wildlife, for example when lions attack livestock. But with the support and commitment of PEUGEOT, BORN FREE is implementing effective and innovative strategies such as predator-proof fences, or bomas, to protect people and livestock, conserve natural resources, and safeguard wildlife and local communities - contributing to greater safety for all.”
Phil York, PEUGEOT Global Marketing & Communications Director, stated:
“Today more than ever, a brand like PEUGEOT must contribute to building a more responsible and sustainable world for future generations. We are progressing towards our Carbon Net Zero ambition, and there are many ways to achieve it. I firmly believe that EDUCATION is one of the keys to a more sustainable world, which is why we are committed to playing our part.”
In Kenya, our partnership focuses on protecting lions whilst helping to create safer, more sustainable environments for both wildlife and the people who share these landscapes. From building beehive fences and predator‑proof bomas (protective livestock enclosures) to delivering community workshops, these practical initiatives make coexistence between people and nature possible.
Because protecting biodiversity also means acting on the ground, Peugeot Landtrek pick‑ups support Born Free teams by keeping them mobile and connected where it matters most.

Born Free’s teams rescue and rehabilitate animals that have suffered abuse or exploitation, providing them with lifelong care in sanctuaries and protected reserves across Africa. At the same time, the organisation works closely with local communities to protect endangered species and preserve the natural habitats they depend on.
